Miele G7000 Dishwasher Series: Is it worth its price?

One of Miele’s biggest and most impressive launches by far is the G7000 dishwasher series, offering not only top-notch cleaning power but also incredible intuitive design.

Miele has kept the tried-and-tested dishwashing solutions but has added a plethora of convenient new features. With the addition of its auto-dosing system and WiFi connectivity, it’s easily one of the best high-end dishwashers on the market.

If you’re looking for a splurge-worthy dishwasher that you intend to use over the next decade or so, a G7000 dishwasher is a great investment. Compared to other luxury dishwashers, you might prefer this for its reliability.

The G7000 series doesn’t come cheap, so it’s not for the budget-conscious. However, if you want the same high-end features for less the price, the G5000 is a good alternative.

How We Reviewed the Miele G 7000 Series

Miele has pushed boundaries with its G7000 series by introducing smart, intuitive designs. Since this series doesn’t come cheap, we took it upon ourselves to determine whether it’s worth its price.

Here at ApplianceGeeked, we assessed and rated the series based on a few factors, such as cleaning performance, drying power, range of operations, flexibility of loading options, and reliability.

We do not own a machine and didn’t perform actual tests for our assessment. Instead, we spent weeks collecting and mulling over reviews from customers and experts to help you better understand why the G7000 is one of the best on the market.

We also gathered reliable data from independent reviews conducted by Bon Appetit, USA Today, Designer Appliances, and Wirecutter. Such data enabled us to gauge the performance of the dishwasher, especially compared to the competition.

The G7000 series is Miele’s most cutting-edge lineup of dishwashers designed to deliver autonomous cleaning freedom to households everywhere.

Featuring an Automatic Dosing system, the Miele G7000 series is the first in the world to have the ability to automatically dispense the correct amount of dishwasher detergent. It can even adjust the amount based on the soil level and selected program.

The Power Disk, which is the heart of the AutoDos system, comes with detergent powder. It’s a quick-dissolving formula made with special enzymes that boost the cleaning results and protect the most delicate items against intense heat.

Another unique feature is the AutoStart, which enables users to monitor and control their dishwasher from their smart devices via the Miele mobile app or Amazon’s Alexa.

Not only that, the dishwasher can even be programmed to start cycles at the same time every day or at different times throughout the week.

Miele has implemented its M Touch color display, which allows all built-in appliances to be controlled like a smart device, including fully integrated models with hidden buttons.

Through the intuitive interface, users can tap, drag, and swipe the controls. It’s a feature exclusive only to the G7000 dishwashers.

Despite all the upgrades, Miele has not let go of the classic. Such tried-and-tested solutions include the Quick Intense Wash program, LED interior lighting, and Knock2Open function.

Our Overall Rating: 9.8/10

Ranging from $1,499 to $2,999, the Miele G7000 series is quite a luxury, but it’s worth the price if you are looking to invest in versatility, convenience, and reliability.

Here’s a summary of how we evaluated the G7000 Miele dishwasher series.

Cleaning performance

We evaluated the series’ cleaning performance based on its ability to remove the most stubborn stains, such as leafy greens, dried-on oatmeal, greasy starches, and more.

Then, we took note of any instances of redeposits.

Other factors that affected our assessment of its cleaning ability include the wash cycles, programs, and times.

Drying performance

We scrutinized its drying power based on its ability to fully dry glass, metal, ceramic, and plastic items.

We also looked into other factors that affect the drying performance, such as tub material, rack design, and the drying system itself.

Range of operations

In our assessment of its operations, we identified all of its features and functionality, then we compared it to the brand’s entry-level dishwashers.

We also compared the G7000 series to high-end dishwashers from competing brands. We referenced data from independent reviews conducted by Wirecutter, USA Today, and more.

Loading flexibility

To gauge the loading flexibility of the dishwashers, we scrutinized the design and layout of each of the three racks.

We also checked what types of items could fit in a single load, such as pots, ladles, large bowls, and wine glasses.

Reliability

We gave the G7000 series a reliability rating based on its longevity, frequency of malfunctions, and customer support. We gathered data from customer reviews, as well as independent reviews conducted by experts.

What do experts say?

It delivers ultra-quiet yet powerful cleaning performance.

Wash after wash, the G7000 series is capable of delivering an ultra-quiet yet thorough cleaning performance without missing any spots.

In our assessment, we’ve found that it’s one of the best on the market when it comes to removing the most stubborn stains. This includes leafy greens, which the G5000 slightly struggled to fully remove without leaving a few leafy specks on the dishes.

No matter the cycle, including its 58-minute Quick Wash cycle, it can get rid of dried-on rice, oatmeal, beans, cheese, and more. Even with all that power, its noise level doesn’t go over 42 dBA, making it extremely quiet and suitable for families with little kids.

It has reliable drying power.

One of the biggest problems when it comes to dishwashers, even among high-end models, is the drying performance. Most brands have yet to figure this one out—but Miele might already have.

Like the G5000 series, the G7000 dishwashers have an AutoOpen door function which boosts the drying performance without using up too much energy.

After a cycle, the dishwasher automatically opens the door ever so slightly to let the steam out. This enables the dishes across the three racks to dry fully, including the hard-to-dry plastics.

With Miele dishwashers, there’s no need to worry about warping or melting the plastics because this drying system prevents that from happening.

It has spacious, flexible racks.

Miele’s new FlexLine baskets offer incredible flexibility and generous space, which fits all kinds of dishware. This is the same tray that you can get on the entry-level G5000 dishwashers.

The middle of the tray has a sunken section that can fit long items like ladles and small bowls. Now, both sides of the tray can be adjusted to create more space for the lower rack.

Its left section slides to the right, which frees up space for wine glasses and other taller items on the rack underneath it. Meanwhile, the right section can be lowered to accommodate more cutlery.

Due to its adjustability, it might be tricky for some to figure everything out, but it shouldn’t be a big problem. Over time, it does get easier to load and unload all the dishes.

It’s built for the modern kitchen.

The range of functions on Miele’s G7000 series is perfect for modern households, especially smart homes. With its M Touch display and mobile controls, it can make the cleaning process faster and headache-free.

Such features and functionality are convenient but not entirely necessary. If you are on a budget, the G5000 can be just as effective but with fewer bells and whistles.

However, performance-wise, the G7000 surpasses the G5000 in every way. Thus, even if you don’t use the smart features, we think its top-tier cleaning and drying capabilities are worth the upgrade.

What do customers say?

  • Miele G7000 dishwashers are easy to control and navigate, even with their wide range of features and functionality. Due to their intuitive design, there is less frustration when it comes to loading, unloading, and selecting wash cycles.
  • It’s ultra-quiet. Regardless of the wash program or the duration, it consistently operates with minimal noise.
  • Although the racks aren’t quite deep as Bosch models, they are very flexible and adjustable, which frees up more space to fit larger items, spatulas, and ladles.
  • The express wash function is reliable and powerful. It’s a very convenient function to have for larger and busier households.

Summary of Reviews

The Miele G7000 dishwasher series has high reliability and user satisfaction ratings. Despite its price, the series is highly rated because it brings immense value, exclusive features, and other convenient add-ons that make dishwashing less of a chore.

It isn’t prone to malfunctioning, requiring minimal servicing throughout its lifespan. However, depending on where the customer is from, support services might take a while to conduct repairs.

With proper care and maintenance, a Miele G7000 customer can last up to two decades, making it worth the investment.
