Aside from unplugging your microwave’s electrical cord, you can do a hard reset by turning off the power at the circuit breaker. Although it varies per household, the circuit breaker is usually located in an area with low traffic.

Your circuit breaker could be in your basement, garage, or storage room. However, if you live in an apartment building, it could be in the laundry room or hallway.

After plugging your microwave back in from a hard reset, you need to turn the appliance back on and set the time of day.

When to Soft Reset Your Samsung Microwave

To reset the clock on a Samsung microwave using the Clock function, follow these steps:

• Step 1: Press the Clock button.
• Step 2: Enter the time of day using the numeric keypad on the control panel.
• Step 3: Click on the Clock button to choose between AM and PM. If you have a ME16H702SES model, you can skip this step.
• Step 4: Select the Enter/Start button to confirm. 

Samsung Microwave (ME21M706BA)

If your microwave doesn’t have the Clock button like the ME21M706BA, you can set the time using the Options buttons.

To reset the clock on a Samsung microwave ME21M706BA, follow these steps:

• Step 1: Press the Options button.
• Step 2: Click the number 9 button.
• Step 3: Select the OK button and enter the time of day using the number pad.
• Step 4: Press the OK button to confirm the change.

Samsung Microwave MG11T5018CC

On certain Samsung microwave models like the MG11T5018CC, you have to reset the clock by pressing the OK button.

To reset the clock on a Samsung microwave MG11T5018CC, follow these steps:

• Step 1: Press the OK button.
• Step 2: Tap on the left and right arrow buttons to set the hour.
• Step 3: Select the OK button to confirm the change.
• Step 4: Tap on the left and right arrow buttons again to set the minute.
• Step 5: Press OK to confirm.

Samsung Microwave (ME19R7041F)

Like the Samsung microwave ME19R7041F, some models don’t have a Clock button but have a dual-purpose Power Level button. You can use the Power Level button to reset the clock.

To reset the time on a Samsung microwave ME19R7041F, follow these steps:

• Step 1: Press and hold the Power Level button for three seconds.
• Step 2: Use the number pad to enter the time of day.
• Step 3: Click on the Power Level once to select AM and twice for PM.
• Step 4: Tap on the OK/Start button to confirm the time.

Samsung Microwave (MC17J8000CS)

In some Samsung microwaves like the MC17J8000CS, you can access the Clock function and set the time through the My Settings button.

To reset the clock on a Samsung microwave MC17J8000CS, follow these steps:

• Step 1: Press the My Settings button.
• Step 2: Select the number 9 button on the control panel.
• Step 3: Tap the OK button.
• Step 4: Enter the time on the numeric pad.
• Step 5: Click the OK button to confirm.

How to Reset Filter Light on Samsung Microwave

To reset the filter light on a Samsung microwave, press the 0 button on the numeric pad until “Filter” disappears on the display. 

Only reset the filter light after you’ve replaced the grease or charcoal filters on your Samsung microwave.

Countertop microwaves don’t have filters or filter lights, but over-the-range microwaves do.

Every six months or so, the filter light on your Samsung microwave notifies you that it’s time to replace your grease and charcoal filters. After changing the filters, you’ll have to reset the light so you get notified after six months.

Ideally, you should check the filters every three months and replace them whenever necessary.
