Loose Connection

The first thing you need to do if your Samsung oven won’t turn on is to determine if it is a power issue. In most cases, it happens because the power cord isn’t plugged in securely or not plugged in at all.

Solution: Inspect the power cord and verify that the oven is plugged in properly. If it isn’t, simply plug it back in and observe if the issue recurs.

Move to the next solution on our list if the oven turns off again. If it isn’t caused by a loose connection, your oven isn’t receiving sufficient power due to a faulty outlet.

No or Insufficient Power

Most electric ranges are powered using 240 volts of alternating currents (VAC), which run through two lines of voltage. Each line has 120V.

Even if you plug in the oven correctly, your appliance won’t turn on if the power isn’t reaching the outlet.

Solution: First, use a multimeter or an outlet tester to verify that your outlet has power. If it doesn’t, call an electrician and request service.

  • Step 1: Unplug the oven.
  • Step 2: Get a multimeter and select the AC settings.
  • Step 3: Insert each probe into a slot in the outlet. Only hold the insulated parts of the probes to prevent any possible injuries.
  • Step 4: Look at the results on your multimeter.

You should see around 110V to 120V on your multimeter if the outlet is functioning properly. If there is no reading, your might have a tripped circuit or a wiring problem.

  • Step 5: Try resetting the circuit breaker. Turn it off and turn it back on after 30 seconds.
  • Step 6: Request service if resetting the circuit breaker won’t resolve the problem. Leave the electrical repairs to a licensed electrician.
Quick Note:

Although a multimeter gives a more accurate reading, it can be overwhelming for beginners. Instead, you can use an outlet tester, which lights up and lets you know if there is voltage present.

All you have to do is plug in the outlet tester and check the lights. Typically, the two lights on the right will light up to let you know that the outlet has power.

Door Not Fully Closing

Leaving a Samsung oven door open for more than a minute will cause it to turn off. Thus, if your oven isn’t staying on, you might have a door issue.

If it isn’t closing all the way, it’s most likely because of incorrect installation of the door itself or the racks. It could also be caused by a jammed door latch.

Install the racks properly.

Door issues are common and often require minor troubleshooting. Most of the time, you just have to push the oven racks and trays all the way in to get the door to close properly.

Solution: To install the oven racks properly, follow these steps:

  • Step 1: Carefully roll the wire rack out of the oven.
  • Step 2: Lift the front part to remove it.
  • Step 3: Reinstall the rack. Keep the stoppers, which are protruding parts on both sides of the rack, at the front part.
Tips:

Trays: Whether you have a baking tray or a universal tray, the slanted side must be in front when you install it in the oven.
Wire rack insert: Attach it onto a tray and push them together into the oven.
Divider: Keep the Dual Cook sign in front. Install the divider in the middle of the oven to create two separate cooking chambers.

Install the door latch properly.

Open the oven door and check if the latch is in its correct position. If it’s stuck in the locked position, it will fail to engage with the door and it won’t latch.

However, if the latch isn’t jammed, skip to the next possible cause — incorrect door installation.

Solution: To fix a jammed door latch on your Samsung oven, follow these steps:

  • Step 1: Push the Child Lock button and the door plunger at the top corner of the oven for three seconds.
  • Step 2: Use your finger to apply gentle pressure on the door latch until it returns to its original position.

Install the door properly.

Did you recently remove the oven door for repair or maintenance?

If you did, it’s possible that the door wasn’t installed properly. You must disassemble it and reinstall it correctly to resolve your issue.

Solution: To reattach a Samsung oven door correctly, we recommend checking your user manual for detailed instructions for your specific oven model.

  • Step 1: Open the oven door.
  • Step 2: Wrap scratch tape on the tip of a slotted screwdriver.
  • Step 3: Carefully pull the hinges out of the locked position using the screwdriver.
  • Step 4: Flip the hinge covers on both sides of the oven.
  • Step 5: Slowly raise the door and lift it to release it from the unit.
  • Step 6: Reinstall the door by inserting the hinges into their respective openings until they lock into place.
  • Step 7: Open the door and push the hinge covers back to keep them in the locked position.
  • Step 8: Close the door all the way.

Burned-out Wire Connection

Your Samsung oven uses bake or broil functions to cook food. The baking element is at the bottom of the unit, while the broiling element is at the upper part.

Over time, the bake or broil elements can burn out and prevent your oven from turning on or heating up.

A quick visual inspection will tell you if they are malfunctioning. If you see any blistering or cracking, you’ll know that the elements need replacement.

Broil Element

Solution: Use a multimeter to check the broil element for continuity. If there isn’t, the component must be replaced to resolve the issue.

  • Step 1: Unplug or turn off the oven at the circuit breaker.
  • Step 2: Pull the oven out of the wall to access the back panel.
  • Step 3: Unmount the back panel.
  • Step 4: Disconnect the spade terminals from the broil element.
  • Step 5: Use a multimeter and set it to the ohms setting. Test the element for continuity by touching a probe to each terminal on the element.
  • Step 6: Check the reading on the multimeter.

A functioning broil element should have 10 to 50 ohms. If the reading isn’t within this range, replace the component.

  • Step 1: Unplug or turn off the oven at the circuit breaker.
  • Step 2: Pull the oven out of the wall to access the back panel.
  • Step 3: Unmount the back panel.
  • Step 4: Unplug the spade terminals on the broil element.
  • Step 5: Disconnect the temperature sensor molex.
  • Step 6: Remove the oven door and pull out all the racks.
  • Step 7: Unmount the temperature sensor and carefully pull it out.
  • Step 8: Remove the mounting screws on the broil element. Then, gently pull out the faulty component.
  • Step 9: Install the new broil element. Slide it into the terminals and reinstall all the mounting screws.
  • Step 10: Reinstall the temperature sensor and secure it in place with its mounting screw.
  • Step 11: Reinstall the oven door and the racks.
  • Step 12: Reconnect the spade terminals and the temp sensor molex.
  • Step 13: Reinstall the back cover.
  • Step 14: Plug the oven back in and check if it turns on.

Bake Element

Solution: Use a multimeter to test the bake element for continuity. If there is none, the component must be replaced to resolve the issue.

  • Step 1: Unplug the oven.
  • Step 2: Pull the oven out of the wall to access the back panel.
  • Step 3: Unmount the back panel.
  • Step 4: Disconnect the spade terminals on the bake element.
  • Step 5: Choose the ohms setting on the multimeter. Touch a probe to each terminal on the element to test for continuity.
  • Step 6: Check the reading on the multimeter.

A good bake element will show 10 to 50 ohms. If the reading isn’t within this range, replace the component.
