Single-drawer dishwashers come in a wide range of capabilities, all of which claim to make the chore less tedious. Unfortunately, some do not live up to expectations and may bring more problems than solutions.
Not to worry, we’re here to help you cut through all the noise.
Below, we made a list of the best single-drawer dishwashers we could find. We rated each one and assessed its capabilities to help you find an ideal choice for your home’s dishwashing needs.
How We Picked
- Cleaning and Drying Performance: We picked single-drawer dishwashers that can get the job done without requiring you to rewash or hand-dry the dishes after cycles.
In our research, we found dishwashers that deliver a consistent and reliable performance. With such models, you can expect sparkling clean and dry dishes after every wash.
- Value for Money: To help you find an ideal dishwasher for your budget, we selected different models that offer the best value for their price.
We looked closely at the features, functionalities, and build quality of the dishwashers. Then, we determined if they are worth your hard-earned money.
- Features: Modern dishwashers often come with a dizzying array of features—some of which you probably won’t need or use.
Here at ApplianceGeeked, we believe that a good dishwasher doesn’t need a wide range of features to function well. However, we do appreciate such modern conveniences, especially when they can help you do the job more efficiently.
Thus, we gave bonus points to the models that have features that make dishwashing more convenient for you.
- Ease of Use: We picked dishwashers that are easy to use by assessing the adjustability of their racks, accessibility of their controls, and ease of installation.
Additionally, we considered how smoothly the drawers open and how well they can accommodate items of varying shapes and sizes. We gave bonus points to intuitive designs that make loading and unloading hassle-free.
- Noise Level: The noise ratings of drawer dishwashers range from 30 to 60 dBA and may vary throughout the cycle.
We chose models with low to moderate decibel ratings because these are less likely to disturb neighbors, especially if you share a wall with them.

Pros
- Has easy-to-reach controls
- Spacious and flexible
- Cleans greasy stains
- Dries plastics well
- ADA-compliant
Cons
- Dish loading has a slight learning curve
- Expensive
One of the most popular Fisher & Paykel single DishDrawer dishwashers is the DD24SDFTX9 N model. Like many others, we would recommend it for three reasons.
First, we like how inclusive its design is, allowing persons with disabilities and older persons to operate the dishwasher without any hassle. It can be installed at bench height, requiring little to no bending for loading and unloading.
It also has easy-to-reach controls, which enable you to operate the dishwasher with one hand. None of its controls require tight pinching, grasping, or twisting of the wrist.
However, the controls are so simple that they blend in with the stainless steel finish of the dishwasher. If you aren’t paying attention, you could unintentionally press a button.
Second, we like its spacious and flexible drawer design. Since it only has a single drawer, it has 7 place settings, which is half of the average space offered by standard drop-door dishwashers.
Measuring 18 13/16” inches in height, it’s taller than the usual standard single-drawer dishwasher. It can fit large and oddly shaped dishes, as well as pots and pans.
The rack layout does have a slight learning curve. Once you’re accustomed to the rack accessories, it should be a lot easier for you to load the dishes.
Third, we like how quiet the dishwasher is. Aside from the size, its quiet operation makes it an ideal choice for smaller kitchen spaces.
Customer Reviews
“We didn’t need, want or have the room for a full-size dishwasher and the DishDrawer is the perfect size for us. It fits beautifully on a shelf in our kitchen and has enough room for a full day’s dishes.
I took off one star because if you’re not careful you can accidentally set the timer or start it when you’re loading or emptying it. I’ve gotten into the habit of turning on the child lock to prevent it from running until I want it to.” – Tina, Fisher & Paykel CA
“Previously having a Generation 1 Dish draw lasting 20 years I decided to upgrade and get the latest model, the upgraded refinements in the draw slides and interface and overall quality of the dishwasher have Surpassed my expectations, it gets used on a daily basis and gets rid of the stains on the most stubborn dirty dishes whilst saving water.” – Andrea D, Fisher & Paykel (originally from Build.com)

Pros
- Affordable price
- Has customizable panels and handles
- Spacious and adjustable
- ADA-compliant
- Easy to install
Cons
- Accessories cost extra
- Flimsy rack accessories
- Limited finish options
Fisher & Paykel’s DD24SI9 N is a 24-inch drawer dishwasher with a panel-ready finish that can match your cabinetry. With bespoke customization, you can seamlessly integrate the dishwasher into your kitchen to create a single cohesive aesthetic.
We like how you can customize the handles as well. You can choose rounded or square-shaped handles in the color aluminum or black, but you’ll have to pay extra to have more options because the accessory kits are sold separately.
We do wish that Fisher & Paykel offered more variety for the panels. For this model, you can only get it in a faux wood finish and a stainless steel one.
You can opt to have it custom-made by another company. However, it’s going to cost more for the custom finish, as well as for its installation.
It’s a good thing that the DDS24SI9 N is budget-friendly. It doesn’t cost as much as the other dishwasher on our list so you should be able to bring your design vision to life without breaking the bank.
Still, the dishwasher is more expensive than the average drop-door model because it only has a single drawer. For the same price, you can get a standard entry-level model with twice the space.
However, if you’re looking for a compact dishwasher that is ADA-compliant, we would recommend this model. We think it’s a pretty solid choice for small apartments and mobile homes because it cleans and dries well, and it doesn’t make a lot of noise.
Customer Reviews
“Never thought I needed a dishwasher in our motorhome, but I love it. It’s so quiet and being the drawer model it blends in with the cabinets. It also serves as safe storage for the glass coffee carafe when we are traveling down the road.” – Alison, Fisher & Paykel
“I installed this into our 2018 Tiffin motor coach and although I’ve only had it for about 3 months, it works great. It doesn’t dry plastic very well but it cleans the dishes that I put in it. It’s a nice addition to our coach.” – David, Fisher & Paykel
Fisher & Paykel DD24SAX9 N DishDrawer Dishwasher

Model | DD24SAX9 N |
Size | 16 1/8” x 23 9/16” x 22 9/16” |
Place Settings | 7 |
Noise Level | 43 dBA |
Wash Programs | Delicate, Fast, Heavy, Medium, Eco, and Rinse |
Features | Fan-assisted Drying, Flood Protection, Flow-through Dispenser, Quiet Operation, and SmartDrive Technology |
Overall Rating: 7.8/10
Pros
- Has easy-to-reach controls
- Flexible rack configuration
- ADA-compliant
Cons
- Flimsy rack accessories
- Small tub
Another Fisher & Paykel single-drawer dishwasher that we like is the DD24SAX9 N model from Series 7. It has similar capabilities as the rest of the models on our list, but its complementary design and incredible value make it stand out.
We like its recessed handle and visible controls, which are absent in the Series 9 and 11 models. These features give it a sleek and clean profile while providing you with useful info about the ongoing dishwashing program.
Its flexible rack accessories include a cutlery basket, heigh-adjustable cup racks, pitch-adjustable tines, and folding tines. You can customize the rack to fit a wide range of items.
Although flexible, the rack accessories are made of plastic and aren’t as sturdy as we like. They can’t keep heavier items like pots, pans, and bowls upright throughout the wash cycle, which may affect the cleaning and drying results.
The slats on the dish racks are also quite narrow. You might have trouble fitting thicker items onto the racks because of this lapse in the design.
Once you’ve figured out the proper rack configuration to fit your dishes, you can enjoy consistent cleaning and drying performance, especially on the Heavy cycle. It runs quietly and shouldn’t wake up the entire house while operating.
Fisher & Paykel’s DD24SAX9 N has a smaller tub than the Tall dishwasher models from the brand. Even if you need a small dishwasher for minimal loads, you might opt to get a Tall variant or a double-drawer design to accommodate bulky, odd-shaped dishes.
Customer Reviews
“I love the style and easy access. It would be nice if it had a deeper drawer in order to have cups and glasses in a larger space, the plates I have which are a large width wise, would fit better. I have two drawers, so I am using one for pots and pans, cups. The cleaning is excellent, I use pods. The other for plates at this time. Also, the only negative I have it does not always completely dry the dishes no matter which setting I use.” – Anonymous, Fisher & Paykel
“Only two issues that I have with this model: first is the moveable racks inside kept falling apart and second is I like a shallow handle of some type to hang dish towel on for convenience of wiping off any remaining water from dishes. I never figured out a way to make the racks stay securely attached so I finally just removed them. My absolute favorite things are the quick wash cycle and the silent operation!” – Shurl, Fisher & Paykel
Fisher & Paykel DD24SV2T9 N DishDrawer Dishwasher

Place Settings | 7 |
Noise Level | 44 dBA |
Wash Programs | Delicate, Fast, Heavy, Medium, Eco, and Rinse |
Features | Fan-assisted Drying, Flood Protection, Flow-through Dispenser, Quiet Operation, and SmartDrive Technology |
Overall Rating: 8.2/10
Pros
- Spacious and flexible
- Bold professional design
- Sturdy stainless steel build
- Fits plates up to 12.25” in size
- ADA-compliant
Cons
- Expensive
From Fisher & Paykel’s Professional line of single-drawer dishwashers, the DD24SV2T9N model made it to our list because of its bold, sturdy stainless steel build and bar handle, as well as its reliable wash performance.
Unlike other dishwashers that were made to blend in, this was made to stand out in your kitchen. This not only gives your space the look of a professional kitchen but also performs like it belongs in one.
The dishwasher has 6 wash programs to help you clean up minimal to heavily soiled dishes. It also has three wash modifiers: Sanitize, Extra Dry, and Quick Wash.
Sanitize removes bacteria and germs, which is very useful for cleaning cookware and baby-feeding items. Extra Dry gives the dishwasher that much-needed boost for plastic items, while Quick Wash removes stubborn stains without compromising on quality.
More importantly, it can get the dishes clean without waking the entire house up or your neighbors.
We also like that the dishwasher has a spacious drawer. It can accommodate large dinner plates, measuring up to 12.25” in size.
However, it can only fit 7 place settings, which is the standard for single-drawer dishwashers. Thus, you’ll still have to run multiple loads if you have piles of dishes to clean, especially after celebrations or casual dinner parties.
The dishwasher is on the higher end of the price range as it costs over a thousand dollars for a single drawer. If it’s within your budget, it’s a decent choice.
Customer Reviews
“We have two single drawer dishwashers. Excellent product. Great performance. We had the same two single drawer dishwashers in a previous home.” – Dennis, Fisher & Paykel
“Took a while to get it delivered. First one arrived dented by the handle, and was exchanged without issue. But now that it’s installed, it works great! Pretty quiet and great for my basement bar area.” Brad, Best Buy
Fisher & Paykel DD24STX6I1 DishDrawer Dishwasher
Brand | Fisher & Paykel |
Model | DD24STX6I1 |

Place Settings | 7 |
Noise Level | 43 dBA |
Wash Programs | 60 min, Auto, Glassware, Delicate, Heavy, Medium, Eco, and Rinse |
Features | Intuitive Touch Controls, Fan-assisted Drying, Quiet Operation, Flood Protection, Flow-through Dispenser, Soft Close Drawer, Spray Arm Sensing and WiFi Connectivity |
Overall Rating: 9.2/10
Pros
- Tall design
- Has a soft close drawer
- Stainless steel build
- ADA-compliant
- Energy Star-certified
Cons
- Expensive
The DD24STX6I1 is one of the newest iterations of Fisher & Paykel’s DishDrawer dishwasher. We like its streamlined design, flexible wash options, and efficient cleaning performance.
With its eight wash programs, you can clean everything from the most delicate glassware to the greasiest saucers.
Similar to other Fisher & Paykel models, you can pair the wash cycles with the modifiers to help the dishwasher dry thoroughly, sterilize better, and perform more quietly.
Since the DD24STX6I1 is a luxury iteration of the single-drawer dishwasher, it has advanced features and capabilities that are absent in Series 7 and 9 models. What we like the most is the soft-drawer design that prevents it from slamming shut.
Another useful feature is the spray arm sensor, which alerts you whenever the arm is blocked. You can stop the cycle and readjust the dishes so that you can have great results and you won’t have to redo the cleaning.
It has touch-sensitive controls that are tucked away when the door is closed. We do think that the small display from older iterations that showed the timer was very helpful, but if you prefer a sleek and seamless look, this should be right up your alley.
The dishwasher comes with a pretty hefty price tag. It costs as much as a standard drop-down dishwasher but has half the space.
Still, if you don’t have to wash piles of dishes daily, this dishwasher’s sturdy build, compact size, efficient performance, and convenient features should be worth the investment.
