Tired of your noisy dishwasher? Well, you’re in luck because modern variants are much quieter than the ones produced decades ago.
Here at ApplianceGeeked, we’ve rounded up the quietest dishwashers on the market. Whether you have little children or simply prefer to run your wash cycles at night, this machine can do the job without waking up the entire household.
Below, we made a list of the best quiet dishwashers and rated them for you.
How We Picked
- Noise Level: Modern dishwashers usually have lower decibel ratings than older units. Ranging from 46 to 60 dBA, they can operate quietly without waking up the entire household.
- Cleaning Performance: We chose dishwashers with low to moderate decibel ratings and excellent cleaning abilities. We scrutinized their ability to eliminate a variety of stains.
- Drying Performance: To gauge the drying power of the dishwashers, we looked at their ability to dry different materials, such as stainless steel, glass, ceramics, and plastics.
- Tub Material: The interior material of dishwashers affects not only their performance but also their noise levels. We chose dishwashers with stainless steel or hybrid tubs, which are generally quieter than plastic variants.
- Rack Design: Tines that are mounted too close to each other will sometimes make the dishes rattle and bump each other during cycles. Not only will this create loud noises, but it will also ruin your tableware.
- Value for Money: We looked at the pricing of the dishwashers, and then determined if it was reasonable based on the features and functionality they offered.

Our Overall Rating: 9.2/10
Pros
- Cleans stubborn stains
- Dries thoroughly
- Top rack fits small bowls and large cutlery
- Fast wash cycles
Cons
- Not enough space between tines
- No Home Connect
Bosch’s SHPM88Z75N is one of the most powerful dishwashers from the 800 Series that has very low noise levels. Operating at 40 dBA, it can get rid of the toughest stains on your dishes without ruining your much-needed peace and quiet at home.
Made with a stainless steel tub, 18 sound-reducing technologies, and two layers of insulation, it can function at low noise levels without compromising its performance.
Its spray arm technology, which is designed to target the dishes instead of the tub, also helps keep the decibel rating low.
Even with a small kitchen or apartment, its operating noise won’t fill your entire space and ruin conversations. It’s so quiet that it has an InfoLight, which is a small red beam that reflects on your kitchen floor, to let you know that the dishwasher is still operating.
One of the disadvantages of this Bosch SHPM88Z75N is that it lacks Home Connect, which enables you to control and monitor the dishwasher remotely. Although it doesn’t affect its performance, it’s a great option to have, especially for modern houses.
The Home Connect function is available on more affordable Bosch dishwashers, so we’re a bit surprised that this model isn’t equipped with it. Still, we don’t think it’s a drawback because this dishwasher is packed with a lot of features and functions.
Customer Reviews
“The unit is very quiet but be aware that the support tines on the shelves are close together. If you have dishes that are “thick”, that is, relatively large from the base to the rim there could be issues loading the dinner plates. Bowls will also challenge your organizational skills. Rek1790, Bosch”
“We’ve only had it for couple of months so we cannot tell how long it will last but so far we are extremely happy. It is so quiet that if it weren’t for the red light on the floor we wouldn’t know it was working. I love the three racks! No more bending down to find the long handled spoon at the bottom of the dishwasher. Even plates fit on the second rack making emptying a pleasure. I like being able to use the half load, eco feature and the 60 minute speed cycle. I may have spent more on this one, but we are very happy with our new smart and quiet helper in the kitchen. It works as advertised and does the job quietly! Just what I was looking for! I’ve waited almost 4months because of the pandemic, the production was slow, but it worth the time and money! Thanks a lot!!! Happycat, Bosch

Our Overall Rating: 9.2/10
Pros
- Hot water connection
- Has a water softener
- LED interior lights
- Energy Star-certified
Cons
- Expensive
The G 7566 SCVi SF isn’t the quietest Miele dishwasher around. However, we selected it because its cutting-edge features, powerful performance, and low decibel ratings are worth the splurge.
With a 41 dBA noise rating, this dishwasher is as quiet as a refrigerator’s humming sound. It’s slightly audible when you get too close to the appliance, but it won’t be any inconvenience to the household.
Aside from its low decibel ratings, its state-of-the-art features make it a worthy upgrade from your standard dishwasher. Its one-of-a-kind automatic dispenser system takes the guesswork out by using the right amount of detergent for every wash cycle.
This not only helps you save about 30% of detergent, but it also helps you optimize your dishwasher’s performance, leading to better results.
Another feature you won’t usually see on other dishwashers is the hot water connection. Instead of heating its own water, it can be connected to a hot water source up to 140°F (60°C), which can help you lower energy costs.
It’s no secret that these high-end dishwashers cost thousands of dollars. If the Miele G 7566 is within your budget, we highly recommend it because it’s powerful, consistent, and long-lasting.

KitchenAid KDTE204KPS

Installation Type | Built-Under |
Place Settings | 13 |

Tub Material | Stainless Steel |
Our Overall Rating: 8.5/10
Pros
- Soil-sensing capabilities
- Triple filtration system
- Affordable price
Cons
- Slow wash cycles
Another quiet dishwasher that is worth considering is KitchenAid’s KDTE204KPS. We added this to our list because of its low noise ratings, flexible rack design, and affordable price.
At 39 dBA, the KDTE204KPS is the quietest KitchenAid dishwasher by far. If you have little kids, we highly recommend it because you can run a wash cycle at any time of the day to sterilize their bottles and other feeding essentials without making a ruckus.
Its double stainless steel interior is a lot better at absorbing sound than the average stainless steel tub. Other than that, it makes the tub more resistant to odors, stains, and streaks.
With a strong combination of its triple filtration system and its smart sensors, it minimizes the redistribution of food scraps during wash cycles. Even with dirty cookware in the tub, you will have fresh, sparkling clean dishes every time.
The downside to getting this KitchenAid model is that it has slower wash cycles compared to other dishwashers. If you don’t mind the speed as long as it performs well and quietly, the KDTE204KPS might be the right choice for your home.

Cons

Sleek, powerful, and very quiet, the Cafe CDT875M5NS5 definitely deserves a spot on our list and perhaps your home. With a noise rating of 39 dBA, it operates quietly without sacrificing performance.
Equipped with a reversible spray arm with more than 90 jets and a dual-convection drying system, this dishwasher can give you spotless, bone-dry dishes after every wash.
What we like the most is the small LED screen in front of the dishwasher, which is very useful because it operates so quietly. With just one glance, you can tell the status of the operations without having to interrupt it.
Another thing that sets it apart from other dishwashers is its platinum glass finish. Not only does it elevate the look of the machine but it also makes it so much easier for you to clean.
One of the drawbacks of the Cafe CDT875M5NS5 is its price. However, its strong combination of features and reliable performance add great value to the dishwasher.

Our Overall Rating: 8.5/10
Pros
- Has a tub light
- BPA-free nylon racks and tines
- Works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant
- Energy Star-certified
Cons
- Inconsistent drying performance
There are three reasons why we added the LG Signature LUDP8908SN to our list. We think its quiet operation, wide range of wash options, and flexibility make it one of the best quiet dishwashers on the market.
It has a noise rating of 38 dBA, which means it is one of the quietest models you can get today. Its low noise levels can be attributed to the well-designed rack layouts and the stainless steel tub.
No matter the wash cycle, including the heaviest programs designed to remove the toughest messes, this dishwasher can stay very silent. Best of all, it can eliminate those stubborn stains with ease.
Unfortunately, this dishwasher doesn’t dry as well as it cleans. One common complaint that we’ve seen about it is that it struggles to get plastic containers bone-dry.
To be fair, a lot of dishwashers struggle to get plastics fully dry. You can try to boost the drying performance of the dishwasher by using Rinse Aid and its optional Extra Dry function.
Overall, we think the LG Signature LUDP8908SN offers great value for its price.
Customer Reviews
“We just renovated our kitchen and our old 25+ year old Kitchenaide dishwasher that still worked great did not fit in with the remodel. I decided to go with this LG model and we are amazed at how quiet it is. It took us a few washes to get the drying part to our liking. All in all we are very satisfied with this purchase.” TammyLyn, LG
“The dishwasher is very quiet and has a smudge-free stainless finish and clean lines. Dishes and glassware sparkle after cleaning. The real test was dried on canned cat food bowl. It always requires overnight soaking to come clean. The LG rendered it shiny and spotless with no soaking or scraping.” oldguycc, LG
